WAKE UP!

While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.  I Thess. 5:3

            True prophetic voices have always been at odds with those who claimed to be prophets but were proclaiming things that weren’t true.  When the nation of Israel, in Old Testament times, was about to be led into captivity because of their disobedience, God’s prophets warned them while false prophets proclaimed messages of wellbeing.  God lamented that His people were ignoring the truth.  “These are rebellious people, children unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction.  They say to the seers, “See no more visions!” and to the prophets, “Give us no more visions of what is right!  Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions.  Stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel!”  (Isaiah 30:9-11)

            The signs of the times are all around us; wars that appear to have no end in sight, weather patterns wreaking havoc, lawlessness in our schools, economic disaster that is setting us up for a one world economy, natural resources being polluted beyond repair.  Yet politically, one can still hear predictions of good times ahead.   

            God’s children have been challenged to stay sharp and be watchful.  The day of the Lord is coming and just as labor pains come upon a woman in childbirth, bend her in half and only intensify, so it will be when the judgment of God begins to impact mankind.  Calamity will roll over this earth with the rhythm of the waves upon the sea.  Peace and security will only be found in the shelter of saving faith in Christ.

            Do our tongues bear the undiluted message of the Word?  Do our words penetrate our environment like a sword?  May it be!  When we lay down our armor and try to party in Sodom and Gomorrah, we lose our heads, dull our hearts, and mute our witness.  God calls us to spiritual alertness in order to shape our times with a clear and precise prophetic message.     

This is the time for prophetic accuracy. Make my voice count, Lord Jesus.  Amen
