Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1
There aren’t many safe places in this world. When you fear you are coming apart because you can’t hold it together anymore, you will assess your places of refuge. Will all disclosures be welcomed? Will they be received as Jesus would receive them? Usually, the answer is ‘in part.’ You know that the release offered to you will be partial and the rest will be limited.
Not so with God. He assures us we are safe because a shelter is so much more than a place. God does not build us a shelter ~ He is the shelter. We are hidden in Christ, and no disclosure is too personal, raw, shocking, or desperate. If we have the courage to trust His love and speak the unspeakable, He will be available to listen. He will not be rushed. There are no clocks in the kingdom.
As we unburden our souls, our Shelter will assess the damage and engage in spiritual surgery to re-create what the enemy has torn down. He will reframe and clarify with perfect wisdom. He will rebuild broken foundations. In His embrace, ‘shalom’ is always in progress; no one will ever be strong enough to invade and destroy what God is doing. He will comfort us and hold us until we are strong enough to stand on a new Word and a fresh outpouring of love. His Word will always be the iron that comprises our new mental and emotional framework.
The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Deuteronomy 33:27
